About the Personal Licence course:
If you work in the Hospitality or Security sectors, you’re probably already aware of what a Personal Licence course is, and what it’s for. However, if you missed the memo, or just want to learn a little more about Personal Licence application, Personal Licence training and Personal Licence courses, then you’ve come to the right place.
The Personal Licence course, or to give it, it’s full title Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders Qualification (APLH), is one of statutory requirement of the 2003 Licensing Act.
The course was designed to ensure that anyone involved in the sale or supply of alcohol is aware of their responsibilities under the act, to retail the alcohol in a safe and responsible manner and conduct these sales whilst promoting the 4 licensing objectives contained within the act (5 licensing objectives in Scotland). The licensing objectives are;
The protection of children
The prevention of crime and disorder
The prevention of public nuisance
(Protecting and improving public health: Scotland)
Whilst you do not need to have a Personal Licence in order to work in licensed premises, at least one member of staff at the premises must hold a Personal Licence
