How long does the course take?
The course normally starts at 10am and is finished by 4pm .
What does the exam entail?
There is a 40 question exam, all multiple choice. To pass, you must answer 28 out of 40 questions correctly.

What is the success rate?
At present, we have a pass rate in excess of 99%.
Do I need any experience to attend a SCPLH course?
No, all you need is a willingness to learn .
How old do you need to be to take your Personal Licence Holders exam?
You can sit the examination before you are 18, but to hold a Personal Licence you must be at least 18 years of age.
Where can I sit my SCPLH exam?
At any of our training venues located around the Scotland.
How much does the SCPLH course cost?
The cost of the course and the exam is £150 plus vat.
Are there any hidden costs?
NO. The cost includes your course tuition, examination fee, BIIAB certificate, lunch, refreshments and six months membership to the BII.
How soon will I receive any pre-course study material after I have booked my place on the course?
Do I need to bring identification with me to the exam?

Can you come to my premises to deliver the course?
Yes, subject to a minimum of 4 candidates.
What happens if I fail?
In the very unlikely event of you failing, then a re-sit of the course or exam only can be booked at a fraction of the price.

What is a Personal Licence?
A licence granted to an individual person that enables that person to authorise the sale of alcohol from any premises that holds a Premises Licence.
When I receive my NCPLH certificate does that mean I am a personal licence holder?
No you must apply to your local licensing authority for a personal licence.
What do I need to apply for a personal licence?
You will need a BIIAB SCPLH certificate, a basic criminal disclosure, and a completed personal licence application form.

What is the BIIAB Level 2 Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders?
This qualification is required for anyone who wishes to apply to their local council for a Personal Licence to sell alcohol.
Who is the BIIAB Level 2 Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders for?
The qualification is nationally recognised and is designed for anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol in licensed premises including:
- pubs and bars
- hotels and restaurants
- off-licences, supermarkets and convenience stores
- sports and social clubs nightclubs and entertainment establishments
- any other venue or site where alcohol is sold
What does the qualification cover?
The BIIAB SCPLH covers the syllabus set by the Scottish Government to enable candidates to understand the law in relation to:
- the roles, responsibilities and functions of Licensing Boards and Licensing Standards Officers
- the application process for a personal licence
- the application process for premises and occasional licences, mandatory & discretionary conditions
- protection of children from harm
- the content and purpose of operating schedules
- drunkenness and disorderly behaviour
- licensed hours
- control of order
- the responsible retail sale of alcohol
- roles and responsibilities of the personal licence holder and the penatlitiese relating to failure to comply with the law
- unathorised licensable activities
- rights of entry to licensed premises
- the strengths of alcoholic drinks and the effects of alcohol on the human body.

10.00am - 4.00pm
